Kiosk Boards

Thanks to our partners, Town of Lyerly, Georgia and Town of Trion Georgia, especially the Trion Recreation Dept., for helping us with the Kiosk Project. CRG created information boards for the existing kiosks in Trion, Lyerly and Chattoogaville, and they were installed June 4, 2026.

We will continue tohelp municipalities maintain the kiosks with vital information for river enthusiasts. Included is a map of the nearest route, rules and etiquette for them to follow as they use the river, and links to online sources to enhance their experience and connect them to other activities and watershed groups.

River Signage

The Chattooga River Group is planning a project to install reflective location reference and warning signs on the Chattooga River from Giles Road at Centerpost Road (the northernmost put-in in Chattooga) down to Chattoogaville (the southernmost take-out in Chattooga), covering over 25 miles of river. We intend for this project to aid both emergency personnel and paddlers.  Sampled are the color-coded sign designs for each of the four legs of the river. These will be 12'w x 18"h aluminum signs mounted on 6' metal posts with 2' buried. We will have Emergency 911 call signs as well.

There are four designated legs:

Red Leg: Giles Road to Trion Golf Course, 3.79 miles

Blue Leg: Trion Rec to Summerville US-27, 7.64 miles

Yellow Leg: Summerville US-27 to Lyerly Dam, 7.81 miles

Green Leg: "The Blue Trail", Lyerly to Chattoogaville, 7.40 miles

Plans are to have the signs installed in the fall of 2026.

We acquired several sponsorships to help cover some of the sign costs. Installation will be done in kind through the collaborative efforts of the Sheriff's Office, the County and other municipalities, fire departments, and of course, the Chattooga River Group (CRG). Sponsors will have their logo on each sign associated with the river leg they help fund. The CRG and community partners will maintain the river to keep it as clean and safe as possible.
